Do you work with a technical founder, or instead of one?

Both happen. With a technical founder we tend to take the parts they do not want to own — the hardware, the cloud, the admin surface — and review architecture together. Without one, we take the whole thing and write the documentation that makes hiring a CTO later a reasonable proposition.

What happens when we want to bring it in-house?

That is a planned outcome rather than a breakup. Source is in your repository from the first commit, infrastructure is in your cloud account, and the handover includes the architecture notes, the runbook and a period of overlap with whoever you hire.

Can you take over a codebase somebody else wrote?

Often, yes. We start with a paid assessment — a week, fixed price — that tells you honestly whether the right move is to continue it, refactor it or restart. Roughly a third of the time the honest answer is that the existing code is fine and the problem is somewhere else.

Ship and scale a software product without building a team first

Hiring a product team takes six months and a funding round. Most founders we work with need the product in front of customers before either. We build the first version properly — so the second version is an extension rather than a rewrite — and hand over everything.
